Bere Island

Bere Island is a small island with a population of 200, located at the entrance to Bantry Bay, near Castletownbere, County Cork, Ireland. It has a church, a Heritage Centre (where the main talks of the retreats are held), a small shop and post office, cafe and two pubs. The natural beauty and peace of the island and the friendliness of the community living there make it an ideal place for retreat.

The Community holds regular retreats there such as the annual Holy Week Retreat and Ten Day Meditation Retreat (for 2011 events see below).

There is a weekly meditation group on the Island and those wishing to make a private retreat alone or in a group will be warmly welcomed. For advice and arrangements contact Theresa at the heritage Centre

Accommodation is available in different forms on the Island and advice on getting there can be obtained from Theresa at the Heritage Centre: biheritage@gmail.com.
