WCCM Brazil holds the first School Retreat in South America

The Brazilian Community held a School Retreat in August (18-25) at the Marianist Center in Campinas (Greater São Paulo). It was the first time a School Retreat was hosted in South America. This is a week-long residential intensive. It is suitable for people who have been meditating seriously for some time in our tradition, and have some experience of integrating meditation into daily life.

Twenty meditators participated coming from various parts of the country: two from Northern Region (Manaus-AM and Belém-AM), two from Center West (Brasilia-DF), four from Northeastern (Fortaleza-CE and Aracaju-SE), seven from Southeastern (Rio de Janeiro-RJ, Sao Paulo-SP, Santos-SP, Araraquara-SP and Sao Jose dos Campos-SP) and one from Southern Region (Guarapuava-SP). Most of them (16) had already participated in former Essential Teaching Weekends. Among them, there were seven members of the Brazilian Council of WCCM.

This was a group that showed a very serious commitment towards the silence the whole week. Ana Fonseca, Dom Alexandre OSB and Roldano Giuntoli contributed as lecturers and interviewers.
