Laurence talks about meditation to Google employees in California

Fr Laurence Freeman gave a talk at "Googleplex", the Google headquarters in California, on Wednesday, 18th January. He visited the company at the  invitation of Chade-Meng Tan, the 110th employee of Google from its early days, who now focuses on introducing contemplative practices for its staff. 

Laurence spoke from the Christian tradition of meditation on the theme "Knowledge is love", showing the practice of meditation as a way to reach a level of knowledge beyond the intellectual: the knowledge that comes from the heart. After the lecture the participants experienced a short meditation session and had time for questions.

Peter Ng: talk in São Paulo, Brazil

 

Peter Ng, Singapore National Coordinator of the World Community, spoke in Sao Paulo, Brazil, 15th June 2011 on "I want peace". In a world troubled by stress and confusion, meditation offers a simple practice to restore peace and harmony, in the depths of the human being. In the Christian tradition, the source of peace and harmony is the personal presence of the Spirit of Jesus. The fruits of meditation come from the daily practice of the discipline that transforms our work and personal relationships.

Meditation and Healthcare Management in Haiti

The John Main lecture at Georgetown University, USA, will take place next Thursday, at 6 pm in the library Lauinger. 
Dr. Pierre Inobert of St Boniface Haiti Foundation Hospital speak on his use of meditation amongst staff and patients to deal with the physical and emotional traumas of the earthquake and its aftermath.
