Dr. Balfour Mount talks about lessons he learned from the dying, was one of the most popular breakout sessions presented at John Main Seminar in Belfast 2000.

Dr. Mount describes his experiences in observing and being with the dying. He describes the different ways each of them copes with what is defined as "total pain", physical, emotional and social aspects of pain. How each one dealt with the spiritual aspects of "total pain" and how it affected their experience of suffering.

Dr. Mount is a medical graduate of Queen’s University. He trained as an Urologist at McGill University and as a Surgical Oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Mount was John Main’s personal physician and has been a friend of The World Community from its inception at New Harmony in 1991 when he became its first chairperson.
