Soon after John Main arrived in Montreal (1977) to found a contemplative monastery in the heart of the city, he began to send quarterly Newsletters to friends of the community. In addition to news of guests and visitors who had come to share the times of meditation with the monastic community, he provided a teaching on the tradition and the practice of Christian meditation. These first Newsletters were later gathered and published as Letters from The Heart. Other compilations followed. All of Father John's Letters have been reissued in one volume titled MONASTERY WITHOUT WALLS available from our Bookstore. (All are available from www.mediomedia.org .) Also look for his book DOOR TO SILENCE (2006).
